SC and HSC students rewarded for excellence in Art and Design
A total of 41 School Certificate (SC) and Higher School Certificate (HSC) students who excelled in the 2025 Cambridge Art and Design examinations were rewarded today at the annual art exhibition at the Rajiv Gandhi Science Centre in Belle Village.
The Art Exhibition 2026, organised by the Mauritius Examinations Syndicate, features the outstanding artworks of these students, showcasing a broad range of artistic techniques and creativity. The opening was attended by the Minister of Education and Human Resources, Dr Mahend Gungapersad, the Director of the MES, Mr Serge Ng Tat Chung, as well as students, their families, teachers, and rectors.
The exhibition will be open to the public from Tuesday 21 April to Saturday 25 April 2026, between 09:00 and 15:30 hours.
Minister Gungapersad commended the students’ remarkable performances, highlighting that their achievements are a testament to their hardwork and creativity. He expressed appreciation to the MES for organising the annual event, which provides an important platform to valorise students’ artistic talents, while acknowledging the continuous support of parents and teachers in nurturing these abilities.
The Minister underscored the importance of promoting the holistic development students thereby maintaining a balance between academic pursuits and extracurricular activities, including arts, sports, music, dance and debates, which serve as key avenues for students to showcase their diverse talents. He encouraged students to continue cultivating their artistic skills emphasising that art remains a powerful medium for expression and personal development.
To the students, Mr Ng Tat Chung stated that the artworks demonstrate their ability to express ideas and emotions through art, attributing their success to dedication and perseverance.
