Ag PM Inaugurates Rs 20M Multipurpose Complex Extension in Port Louis
The newly extended building of the A.H.G.M. Issac Multipurpose Complex in Port Louis, constructed at a cost of some Rs 20 million, was officially inaugurated this morning by the Acting Prime Minister, Mr Shakeel Ahmed Yousuf Abdul Razack Mohamed.
The ceremony was attended by the Junior Minister of Local Government, Mr Mohammad Fawzi Allymun; Members of the National Assembly, Dr Farhad Ismael Aumeer and Mr Mohamed Ehsan Juman; and the Lord Mayor of the Municipal City Council of Port Louis, Mr Aslam Adam Hossenally.
In his address, the Acting Prime Minister highlighted the importance of the project for the region, noting that the upgraded facility would become an important venue for a wide range of community activities. He stated that the Government remains focused on implementing key projects that benefit the population.
He also announced upcoming initiatives in the area, including the construction of two synthetic football pitches, and outlined development plans for Roche Bois, reaffirming the Government’s ongoing commitment to regional development.
Addressing broader issues, the Acting Prime Minister also commented on the situation in the Middle East, noting that Mauritius is currently facing a challenging economic climate. He expressed hope for a swift resolution to the conflict so that petroleum prices can stabilise, while reiterating the importance of maintaining stability at the global level.
For his part, Junior Minister Allymun emphasised that, despite the country’s financial constraints, the Government is making every effort to support the population and invest in priority projects. He commended the extension of the hall and encouraged residents to make full and responsible use of the facility.
Other speakers, including Dr Aumeer and Mr Juman, noted that through such initiatives, the Municipal City Council is actively supporting the population and striving to meet their needs. They highlighted that the hall has already hosted various events, including weddings and engagement ceremonies, offering residents an affordable and accessible venue.
Addressing the Middle East conflict, Mr Juman urged the population to make necessary sacrifices and avoid wasting energy, noting that the crisis is affecting people worldwide. He reassured that the Government is fully aware of the challenging situation and is responding in a responsible manner.
For his part, Mr Hossenally described the multipurpose complex as a valuable asset for the local community, encouraging residents to maintain its cleanliness and make effective use of the facility.
