Series of Activities to mark World Art Day 2026
In the context of World Art Day (WAD) 2026, the Action for Artistic Creation (ACA), in collaboration with Smart Mauritius, Polytechnics Mauritius, and several Ministries, is organising a series of activities from 12 to 19 April 2026 across the island.
The President of ACA, Mr Nishal Purbhoo, made this announcement during a press conference held on Saturday 11 April 2026 at Polytechnics Mauritius in Pamplemousses. The National Chairman of Smart Mauritius, Mr Yash Ramchurn, along with other stakeholders were also in attendance.
WAD 2026 will bring together international artists from 12 countries, offering a unique platform for artistic exchange and interaction between artists and art lovers and the public. The initiative aims to promote artistic expression, support the development of artists, and foster art education. It also seeks to raise awareness among youth about career opportunities within the art sector.
A diverse programme of activities has been scheduled throughout the week. Key events include a workshop with children with special needs and an exhibition at Le Château de Mon Plaisir at the SSR Pamplemousses Garden on 15 April; an exhibition at the Nelson Mandela Centre for African Culture on 16 April at La Tour Koenig; and a mobile art exhibition and an anti-drug march in Goodlands on 18 April.
Citizens are invited to participate in these activities and celebrate creativity, cultural exchange, and artistic innovation.
