Mauritius and Singapore deepen cooperation across key sectors
The Minister of Land Transport, Mr Osman Mahomed, had a working session this morning in Port Louis with the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Social and Family Development of the Republic of Singapore, Mr Zhulkarnain Abdul Rahim, who is on an official visit to Mauritius from 10 to 12 April.
Mr Abdul Rahim, accompanied by a delegation, is attending the 9th Indian Ocean Conference (IOC), which is being organised by the Government of Mauritius in partnership with the India Foundation.
The working session served as a platform to reaffirm bilateral ties and explore avenues for enhanced cooperation, particularly in the transport sector, as well as in other areas of mutual interest amid a rapidly evolving global environment.
In a statement, Mr Abdul Rahim underscored the longstanding and cordial relations between Mauritius and Singapore, marked by strong leadership engagement and people-to-people exchanges. He noted that Singapore hosted the first IOC, while Mauritius is hosting the current one, and expressed his privilege at engaging with Mauritian leadership.
He added that discussions focused on identifying practical areas of collaboration aimed at improving the lives of both Mauritian and Singaporean citizens in the years ahead.
