Tertiary Education: University of Mauritius to sign MoU with University of Pretoria

With a view to strengthening collaboration in academic training, research, staff and student exchanges, and programme development, the University of Mauritius will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Pretoria.

The collaboration will cover several key areas, notably the training of undergraduate and postgraduate students in the health sciences, as well as teaching and learning through capacity building initiatives. These initiatives will include knowledge and skills transfer programmes and structured workplace experience opportunities for students.

By virtue of the MoU, both institutions will also engage in the joint promotion and marketing of programmes to be delivered under the agreement, both locally and internationally. The two universities will further develop supplementary agreements to support specific collaborative activities and projects arising from the partnership.

The agreement also provides for joint applications for research and development funding, as well as the exchange of academic and non-academic staff and students. Provision is also made for the appointment of local and international extraordinary lecturers to support quality assurance with regard to programme content and delivery.

The MoU is expected to promote and advance collaborative projects between the two institutions, including joint research initiatives and the delivery of academic programmes at various levels. It will also deepen collaboration in areas of shared interest and mutual benefit, particularly through academic exchanges, while establishing a framework to address other matters of common concern as they arise.
