Visiting Doctor Scheme to expand specialised medical services in public hospitals
A Visiting Doctor Scheme will be established to enable the Ministry of Health and Wellness to engage, on a temporary basis, medical Consultants, Specialists and other healthcare professionals to provide specialised clinical services and undertake complex medical procedures that cannot adequately be performed locally.
The Scheme will apply in cases where the required treatment is unavailable in public hospitals due to the absence or insufficient availability of suitably qualified Consultants, Specialists or the necessary medical expertise locally.
Under the Scheme, multidisciplinary visiting healthcare teams, comprising doctors, nurses and paramedical professionals, will be engaged according to the specific medical requirements.
In addition to providing specialised clinical services and performing complex procedures, the visiting teams will contribute to the training and mentoring of local healthcare personnel, thereby supporting the development of their professional skills and expertise.
