National Health Infrastructure Ltd to oversee Healthcare Facilities
A Government-owned private company, the National Health Infrastructure Ltd, will be set up to oversee the planning, design, implementation, management, operation and maintenance of health infrastructure, medical equipment and vehicles.
The Ministry of Health and Wellness currently manages an extensive network of healthcare facilities across Mauritius, comprising five Regional Hospitals, six Specialised Hospitals, two District Hospitals, two Community Hospitals, 12 Mediclinics, 105 Area/Community Health Centres, seven Health Offices and a warehouse at Plaine Lauzun.
In addition to providing quality healthcare services to the population, the Ministry is responsible for ensuring that these facilities and their equipment are maintained in optimum condition through regular upgrading, renovation, replacement and maintenance.
The establishment of the National Health Infrastructure Ltd will provide a dedicated structure for managing these responsibilities relating to healthcare infrastructure, medical equipment and vehicles.
