Mauritius and India join hands to organise blood donation camp in Flacq

A Health-cum-Blood Donation Camp was organised by the Ministry of Health and Wellness, in collaboration with the High Commission of India in Mauritius, on 17 October 2026 in Flacq.

The Minister of Health and Wellness, Mr Anil Kumar Bachoo, and the Counsellor (Consular) at the Indian High Commission, Mr Anirudh Kumar Singh, were present on the occasion.

In a statement, Minister Bachoo highlighted that Government regularly organises blood donation drives, collecting at least 100 pints of blood per week. He indicated that these activities had been temporarily suspended during the preceding week owing to recent civil unrest.

The Minister expressed gratitude to the Indian High Commission for its collaboration in organising the camp, which marked the resumption of blood collection activities.

Emphasising the importance of maintaining adequate blood reserves to respond effectively to emergencies, Mr Bachoo urged members of the public to come forward and donate blood, stressing that every donation can help save lives.

For his part, Mr Singh reiterated the importance of ensuring a sufficient and reliable blood supply, particularly during emergencies. He recalled that this was the second blood donation drive organised by the Indian High Commission in Mauritius.
