Stricter rules planned for dolphin and whale watching activities
Measures are being implemented by the Ministry of Tourism to promote responsible dolphin and whale watching, as well as swimming with dolphins, while safeguarding marine life and enhancing the safety and security of visitors and operators.
In this regard, an Enforcement Squad led by the Tourism Authority has been established to ensure compliance with the prevailing regulations and protect cetaceans and other marine species.
Sensitisation sessions will also be conducted with pleasure craft operators and skippers across the island on responsible practices during these activities.
Amendments to the Tourism Authority (Dolphin and Whale Watching) Regulations 2012 will also be introduced to impose more stringent requirements on the conduct of these activities.
