PM Ramgoolam receives CCA President and CEO ahead of US-Africa Business Summit

The potential to strengthen trade and investment ties between the United States (US) and the African continent was at the centre of discussions during a courtesy call by the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Corporate Council on Africa (CCA), Ms Florizelle Liser, on the Prime Minister, Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam, this afternoon at the New Treasury Building in Port Louis.

The meeting focused on preparations for the 18th US-Africa Business Summit, which Mauritius will co-host with the CCA from 06 to 09 December 2026. The Summit will provide a platform for dialogue, networking and business engagement, while showcasing Mauritius as an investment hub and gateway to African markets, fostering new opportunities and strengthening economic cooperation.

Ms Liser, who was accompanied by the Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Mr Janmajaising Bissoondoyal; the US Chargé d’Affaires to Mauritius, Mr Craig Halbmaier; and members of her technical team, expressed satisfaction with the progress made in preparations for the Summit.

She highlighted that the Summit will showcase Mauritius’ investment potential to US companies. According to her, it will also create opportunities for the Mauritian private sector to engage with international investors and private equity firms, establish business connections and explore potential partnerships.

Ms Liser further underscored Mauritius’ economic diversification as a key strength in promoting business development and expressed optimism about the successful organisation of the forthcoming US-Africa Business Summit.

The event is expected to attract approximately 2,500 delegates, including African Heads of State, Ministers from across the continent, a high-level US delegation, CEOs and senior executives from US and African companies.
