Former Microsoft Vice-President Engages with Prime Minister on AI Development
Former Microsoft Vice-President, Mr Ernie Fernandez, met with Prime Minister, Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam, today at the New Treasury Building in Port Louis.
In a statement, Mr Fernandez described the meeting with Prime Minister Ramgoolam as very cordial, noting that this marks his second visit to Mauritius. He highlighted that the discussions centered on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its potential to enhance healthcare, education, and the country’s Gross Domestic Product by boosting corporate productivity.
Mr Fernandez noted that he has been training personnel from Mauritian companies on implementing responsible AI and establishing sound AI governance. He has also taken part in various forums and workshops for both businesses and the public. Currently providing consultancy and training services in Mauritius, he expressed his desire to return to the country again in the near future.
With over 30 years of leadership experience, including his tenure as Vice President of Microsoft’s U.S. State and Local Government business, Mr. Fernandez brings extensive global expertise in governance, leadership, and AI.
