Digital Leadership Conversation 2026 charts Mauritius’ technological advancement

Positioning Mauritius as a leading digital and innovation hub was the focus of discussion during the Digital Leadership Conversation 2026 held today in Ebène.

The high-level forum saw the participation of the Minister of Financial Services and Economic Planning, Dr (Mrs) Jyoti Jeetun and the Minister of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation, Dr Avinash Ramtohul, articulating the Government’s vision to position Mauritius at the forefront of digital transformation and financial innovation.

The event also brought together business leaders, industry experts, policymakers to exchange on digital transformation, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and leadership in an increasingly technology-driven world.

In her intervention, Minister Jeetun reaffirmed Mauritius’ role as a compliant financial centre. She highlighted that in an increasingly complex global environment, it is essential to continuously review and rationalise regulatory processes, including Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements so as to facilitate the ease of doing business while maintaining the highest standards of compliance.

Dr Jeetun further underscored that innovation and regulation must advance together to sustain investor confidence.

For his part, Minister Ramtohul underscored the imperative for Mauritius to position itself as a regional leader in AI and emerging technologies. He referred to the upcoming setting up of a dedicated AI Unit, which will play a pivotal role in fostering innovation, and supporting the development of AI-driven solutions across various sectors of the economy.

The Minister also highlighted the significant opportunities offered by the Asian and African markets, stressing that Mauritius is well placed to leverage its strategic advantages to attract investment and expand its digital reach.

The forum featured engaging and interactive sessions, where participants explored practical approaches to digital leadership and governance with a view to harness the potential of new technologies and drive sustainable growth.
