MFDC marks 40 years of film and audiovisual development
The Mauritius Film Development Corporation (MFDC), operating under the aegis of the Ministry of Arts and Culture, officially launched its 40th Anniversary Ruby Jubilee celebrations on Monday 5 October 2026 in Ebène.
The launch marks the beginning of a year-long programme of initiatives, workshops, screenings and special events celebrating four decades of growth and innovation in Mauritius’ film and audiovisual sector.
As part of the celebrations, the MFDC unveiled its official 40th Anniversary logo and launched the National Short Film Competition 2026, under the tagline “Your Story. Your Vision. Your Mauritius.” The competition reflects the Corporation’s commitment to encouraging creativity, nurturing emerging talent and supporting the development of the Mauritian film and audiovisual sector.
The 40th Anniversary programme will celebrate the MFDC’s journey, recognise the people and talent who have contributed to the sector’s development, engage the wider public, foster collaboration within the audiovisual industry and create opportunities for the next generation of Mauritian audiovisual professionals.
