Law Practitioners Complaints Commission holds its first meeting
The Law Practitioners Complaints Commission (LPCC) has held its first meeting on 02 October 2026 under the chairmanship of former Judge of the Supreme Court Joseph Gérard Angoh.
The Attorney General, Mr Gavin Glover SC, joined the meeting briefly to thank the Chairperson and members for agreeing to serve and to reiterate that the Commission will carry out its work in full independence, free from the direction of any person or authority.
Established under the Law Practitioners (Disciplinary Proceedings) Act 2025, the LPCC is an independent body mandated to receive, conciliate and investigate complaints of professional misconduct against barristers, attorneys and notaries and, where a prima facie case is made out, to institute disciplinary proceedings before the Supreme Court. It takes over the handling of complaints previously dealt with by the Attorney-General, the Bar Council, the Law Society and the Chamber of Notaries.

Members of the public who consider that a law practitioner has committed an act of professional misconduct may lodge a written complaint with the Commission, setting out the facts in detail, within six months of the alleged misconduct or of becoming aware of it.
