Digital Driving Licence now available on KOREK!

With the Digital Driving Licence (DDL) now available on the KOREK! application, the Minister of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation, Dr Avinash Ramtohul, called on the public to complete their MauPass registration, access their DDL and familiarise themselves with the digital licence ahead of the non-acceptance of photocopies of driving licences as from 1 January 2027

He was speaking at a press conference held this afternoon in Ebène on the MauPass registration process and the DDL, which has been available on the KOREK! App since 29 September 2026. The Executive Director of the Mauritius Digital Promotion Agency (MDPA), Mr Heman Jeawon, was also present.

A live, step-by-step MauPass onboarding session was also conducted, demonstrating the registration process and the steps to access the DDL through the KOREK! application.

Dr Ramtohul explained that a three-month period has been provided for members of the public to access their DDL, familiarise themselves with the system and report any anomalies. Any discrepancy identified in the DDL should be reported to the Traffic Branch, he said. The non-acceptance of photocopies of driving licences is aimed at preventing the manipulation of driving licence documents, he stressed. Persons who do not have a smartphone will, however, be required to carry their original driving licence, he added.

Regarding access to the KOREK! application, the Minister indicated that users must first register on MauPass through a Know Your Customer (KYC) process. This requires citizens to visit their nearest post office with their mobile phone and identity card for in-person identity verification. He described KYC as a one-time process carried out primarily for security purposes, serving to establish a person’s identity in the virtual environment and replacing the biometric verification process previously used.

Dr Ramtohul further announced that MDPA teams will be deployed at various locations as from next week to assist citizens with MauPass and KOREK! registration. These include Line Barracks, hospitals and health centres, Social Security offices, National Land Transport Authority offices, the Emmanuel Anquetil Building, Ministries and Parastatals, taxi stands and shopping malls.

The Minister also recalled that KOREK! application already offers a range of other services, while work is ongoing with various Ministries to integrate additional services. This, he said, forms part of efforts to transform Mauritius’ digital landscape and facilitate the population’s transition towards greater use of digital services.
