Mauritius to sign Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement with Czech Republic
The Republic of Mauritius and the Czech Republic will sign a Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement (DTAA), establishing a framework to clarify the taxing rights of both parties in respect of income covered under the DTAA, while providing greater certainty to investors in their dealings with the two countries.
The DTAA will also provide for preferential rates on dividends, interest and royalties, as compared to the withholding tax rates applicable in the Czech Republic.
The Agreement is expected to contribute to creating a conducive environment for increased cross-border investment flows between Mauritius and the Czech Republic.
In addition, the DTAA will establish a framework for the exchange of information between the tax authorities of the two countries, with a view to combating tax evasion and other tax malpractices.
It will further provide a mechanism for taxpayers to seek resolution of tax disputes arising in relation to the Agreement.
