New Equal Opportunities Commission Members Take Oath of Office

The newly appointed Members of the Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC), Mr Noor Muhammad Ally Meeajun and Mr Khemraj Sanmukhiya, took and subscribed the Oath of Office before the President of the Republic of Mauritius, Mr Dharambeer Gokhool, yesterday at the State House, in Réduit.

The two Members have been appointed for a four-year term under the Equal Opportunities Act. The Chairperson of the EOC, Mrs Carolyn Desvaux de Marigny, was also present at the swearing-in ceremony.

Established under the Equal Opportunities Act 2008, the EOC is an independent statutory body responsible, among others, for investigating complaints of discrimination, promoting awareness of rights and responsibilities under the Act, and reviewing its implementation.
