Regional Job and Training Fair connects jobseekers with employment opportunities

The seventh Regional Job and Training Fair organised by the Ministry of Labour and Industrial Relations, aimed at bringing jobseekers and employers together while facilitating access to employment and training opportunities, was held yesterday at Dream Price Supermarket in Souillac.

The event was attended by the Minister of Labour and Industrial Relations, Mr Muhammad Reza Cassam Uteem; the Junior Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, Mr Hambyrajen Narsinghen; and Members of the National Assembly.

The initiative seeks to support jobseekers in securing decent employment while strengthening their employability through access to relevant training and skills development opportunities.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Uteem underlined the importance of the Regional Job and Training Fair in bringing together jobseekers, employers, training institutions and employment service providers. He pointed out that such interaction helps address information gaps while enabling jobseekers to better understand available employment opportunities and employers’ recruitment requirements.

The Minister also encouraged young people to participate in such initiatives and take full advantage of the information, employment prospects and training opportunities made available to them.

Employment and training opportunities

The Fair brought together 18 employers from various sectors, including tourism and hospitality, information technology, trade, healthcare, agro-industry and insurance. A range of vacancies was available to jobseekers, including positions for waiters and waitresses, receptionists, spa therapists, cashiers, air-conditioning technicians and insurance advisors, among others.

In addition to facilitating recruitment, the Fair laid emphasis on training, upskilling and reskilling to enhance the employability of jobseekers and better equip them for evolving labour market requirements.

The Ministry of Labour and Industrial Relations also showcased its Employability Enhancement Programmes, including the Youth Employment Programme and the Women Back to Work Programme, which provide additional avenues for jobseekers to develop their skills and improve their employment prospects.
