Pont Sali Spiritual Park inaugurated ahead of upcoming Ganesh Chaturthi Festival

In the context of the Ganesh Chaturthi Festival, to be celebrated on Tuesday 15 September 2026, the Pont Sali Spiritual Park was inaugurated, yesterday, in Dubreuil, by the Minister of National Infrastructure, Mr Govindranath Gunness, in the presence of several personalities.

The National Development Unit oversaw the works, which amounted to Rs 1.6 million. Works commenced in June and included clearing the area and constructing a walkway and a platform leading towards the river. Tables used for religious rites were also renovated and painted in neutral colours to accommodate the ritual requirements of devotees.

In his address, Minister Gunness called on all devotees to collaborate in ensuring that the Spiritual Park retained its sanctity. He also called on the District Council of Moka, which would now be responsible for the management of the Spiritual Park, to carry out regular maintenance.

Commending the speed with which the works were completed despite the changing weather conditions in Dubreuil, the Minister also praised all stakeholders for their contribution to completing the works in time for the Festival.

Minister Gunness further indicated that the works formed part of a first phase, combining concrete and natural elements, and that several shrubs and flowers would be planted to enhance the area. He added that, following the Ganesh Chaturthi Festival, a retaining wall would be constructed as part of the second phase.

Moreover, he announced that another similar area in Dubreuil would be beautified and developed as a green space for Cavadee celebrations.
