Government Support Agreement extended to Floating Solar Photovoltaic Project at Tamarind Falls Reservoir
Government has agreed to extend the application of the Government Support Agreement to the Floating Solar Photovoltaic Project at Tamarind Falls Reservoir.
The extension forms part of Government’s efforts to promote renewable energy development and support the transition towards a more sustainable and resilient energy sector.
The project is being implemented under a Government-to-Government arrangement, in the context of a Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Government of the Republic of Mauritius and the Government of the Republic of India in September 2025.
The Government Support Agreement was introduced as a key measure to enhance the bankability of renewable energy projects and provide greater certainty to project developers and financiers. It is currently applicable to the recently launched bidding processes for the development of 10 MW and 30 MW hybrid solar farms.
With its extension to the Tamarind Falls project, the Agreement will provide additional support for the development of floating solar capacity, while contributing to the diversification of Mauritius’ renewable energy portfolio and reducing reliance on conventional sources of electricity.
The initiative further demonstrates Government’s commitment to strengthening renewable energy generation and advancing the country’s long-term energy transition objectives.
