New Pellegrin–Trianon Link Road inaugurated to ease congestion and enhance mobility

The Pellegrin–Trianon Link Road, constructed at a cost of Rs 43 million to improve connectivity and traffic flow in the region, was inaugurated, today, in the presence of the Minister of National Infrastructure, Mr Govindranath Gunness. Operational as from this afternoon, the new road is expected to facilitate travel between Trianon, Petit Camp and Ebène by providing motorists with an additional access route.

The link road connects Petit Camp Branch Road to the newly constructed roundabout along the M3–A14 Corridor at Ebène, offering a direct alternative between Motorway M3 and Trianon. The infrastructure is set to contribute to smoother traffic distribution, reduce pressure on Motorway M1, and improve journey times for road users.

The project also comprised the construction of a culvert and drainage works by the Land Drainage Authority to mitigate flood risks in the area.

The inauguration ceremony was also attended by the Minister of Agro-Industry, Food Security, Blue Economy and Fisheries, Dr Arvin Boolell; the Government Chief Whip, Ms Marie Geneviève Stéphanie Anquetil; the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Mr Vedasingam Vasudevachariar Baloomoody; and other personalities.

In a statement, Minister Gunness underlined that despite its modest scale, the project would bring significant improvements to traffic management. He explained that the new route would provide motorists who previously experienced delays near the Ebène roundabout with an alternative option, thereby improving accessibility and easing congestion in the area.

Mr Gunness also recalled the challenges encountered during the implementation of the project, particularly the presence of a nearby wall and the need to preserve the interests of Dukesbridge School. He stated that all possible options were explored to avoid encroaching on the school’s property, in accordance with its request, and that the works were completed without using any part of the institution’s land.

For his part, Dr Boolell underlined the importance of the project in improving accessibility and contributing to smoother traffic movement for the public. He also announced that several other key infrastructure projects will be implemented with the support and financing of the Government of India.
