The Mauritius Sports Council (MSC) will assume full responsibility for the management and operation of all Multi-Use Games Areas (MUGA) facilities across Mauritius, stated the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr Darmarajen Nagalingum, today during a site visit held this morning at the MUGA centre in Sainte Croix. The aim was to take note of the necessary renovation and construction works to be undertaken as part of a redevelopment plan to ensure enhanced administration of the centre and encourage optimal use of these sports infrastructures. The Minister recalled that the MSC will be responsible for several key functions including the organisation of sports and community activities, the implementation of renovation and upgrading works, the management of booking and payment systems, as well as the regular maintenance and upkeep of 13 existing MUGA facilities. Mr Nagalingum reassured citizens that the MSC will mobilise necessary funds to upgrade the MUGA centres and make them fully operational, thereby promoting greater participation in sports and community engagement. The initiative aims to create a safe, clean, and pleasant sporting environment for all, he added.
