Prime Minister meets Singapore’s High Commissioner to Mauritius

The Prime Minister, Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam, received the non-resident High Commissioner of the Republic of Singapore to the Republic of Mauritius, Mr Lim Ming Yan, this afternoon, at the New Treasury Building in Port Louis.

In a statement, the High Commissioner expressed his pleasure at being back in Mauritius, praising the country's natural beauty and pleasant climate. He described his meeting with the Prime Minister as positive, noting that discussions focused on several issues, including ways in which Mauritius and Singapore could further strengthen their collaboration on a number of projects.

According to Mr Lim Ming Yan, Mauritius and Singapore, as small island nations, face similar challenges. He highlighted that Singapore has developed solutions to address some of these challenges, particularly in the areas of utilities and infrastructure, where it could share its expertise and collaborate with the Government of Mauritius.

Speaking about Mauritius' potential, the High Commissioner expressed the hope that enhanced connectivity and stronger ties between Singapore and Mauritius would create greater opportunities for businesses and people from Singapore and the wider East Asian region.
