In his address, Minister Bachoo highlighted Government’s commitment to improving healthcare services and ensuring that citizens benefit from advanced medical expertise and treatment through international partnerships.

He emphasised that the MoU provides for cooperation in several key areas including the development of specialised healthcare services through structured collaboration; capacity building for Mauritian healthcare professionals through free training programmes; the provision of technical assistance; and the promotion of continuous medical education initiatives for healthcare professionals.

According to Minister Bachoo, the agreement will also facilitate access for Mauritian patients to advanced medical treatments currently unavailable in Mauritius. In addition, Medanta Hospital will extend its support to the implementation of the E-Health project and assist in the establishment of a Bone Marrow Transplant Unit in Mauritius, he pointed out.

For his part Mr Malhotra recalled Medanta Hospital’s intention to bring Indian medical specialists to Mauritius to help identify key challenges and contribute to the development of high-speciality services such as neuro-intervention, transplantation, bone marrow transplant and paediatric surgery. He added that this cooperation would also contribute to further strengthening relations between Mauritius and India, while reiterating the support of Medanta Hospital to the Ministry of Health and Wellness.
