Mauritius and Saudi Arabia expand bilateral cooperation across key sectors

Deepening bilateral ties and broadening cooperation across multiple key sectors were the focus of discussions, today, in Port Louis, during a courtesy call between the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Mr Fayez Meshel Altemyat, and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Gender Equality and Family Welfare, Mrs Marie Arianne Navarre-Marie.

In a statement following the meeting, Ambassador Altemyat described the exchanges as productive and constructive, underscoring the longstanding friendly relations between Mauritius and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

He said that the discussions reflected a shared commitment to further strengthen bilateral cooperation and to broaden engagement across a wide range of sectors, including culture, investment, education, the economy, tourism, sports, housing, labour, maritime affairs, security, civil aviation, energy, and water desalination.

The Ambassador emphasised the shared commitment to women’s empowerment and child welfare, identifying these as central focus areas within the broader partnership. He further noted that Saudi Arabia highly values its relations with Mauritius and remains committed to translating emerging opportunities into concrete initiatives that will deliver tangible benefits to both countries and their peoples.

Moreover, Mr Altemyat expressed confidence that the meeting would help open new avenues of cooperation and further reinforce the strong and cordial relations between Mauritius and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
