BRGM to support the Assessment of Coastal Erosion at Tamarin Public Beach

The Ministry of Environment, Solid Waste Management and Climate Change will enlist technical assistance from the Bureau de Recherches Géologiques et Minières (BRGM), through the Agence Française de Développement, to provide advice on the temporary immediate measures undertaken in respect of coastal erosion at Tamarin Public Beach, which occurred in early May 2026.

BRGM will be required to undertake specific technical tasks, including identifying the cause of the erosion and carrying out consultative meetings with local stakeholders.

It will also make recommendations and propose additional temporary measures aimed at limiting the worsening of the risk to property and people, pending the implementation of a more sustainable management strategy.

BRGM is France’s public surface and sub-surface expert body as well as the national leading public institution for Earth Science applications for the management of surface and sub-surface resources with a view to sustainable development.

Its work contributes to the sustainable development of territories, taking into account all associated risks, and to the optimal use of subsurface resources and properties.
