UTM Celebrates Innovation and Entrepreneurial Excellence

An Award Ceremony was held, yesterday at the University of Technology, Mauritius (UTM), for successful students having participated in the Statut National Étudiant-Entrepreneur (SNEE) Programme, celebrating participants’ innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurial achievement.

The SNEE, initiated by the Ministry of Tertiary Education, Science and Research, provides students with the opportunity to transform innovative ideas into viable entrepreneurial projects through mentoring, training, and practical support. The initiative reflects a national commitment to fostering an entrepreneurial culture among Mauritian youth.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tertiary Education, Science and Research, Mr Navindsing Jugmohunsing; the Director General of the UTM, Professor Hemant Chittoo; as well as other personalities were present on the occasion.

In his address, Professor Chittoo highlighted UTM’s longstanding commitment to innovation and entrepreneurship. He pointed out that entrepreneurship has been embedded within UTM programmes for the past 15 years. He further emphasised the University’s continued evolution through the integration of Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies into its academic pathways.

As a first-time participant in the SNEE Programme, UTM reaffirms its commitment to innovation, entrepreneurship, creativity, and future-ready education. Through initiatives such as SNEE, the University continues to empower students to become innovators, problem-solvers and leaders of tomorrow.
