Australian High Commissioner discusses Education Partnerships with PM Ramgoolam
Education partnerships between Mauritius and Australia was the main topic of discussions this afternoon during a courtesy call by the High Commissioner of Australia to the Republic of Mauritius, Mrs Kate Chamley, on the Prime Minister, Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam, at the New Treasury Building in Port Louis.
The Australian High Commissioner was accompanied by, amongst others, the Chancellor of Curtin University in Perth, Australia, Mr David Lock; the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Harlene Hayne; and the Chief Executive Officer of Eclosia Group, Mr Cedric de Speville.
In a statement, High Commissioner Chamley highlighted that Mauritius and Australia share a warm relationship, especially in the education sector. She reminded that Australian education is present at every level of the Mauritian system, going from primary and secondary school education with the Dukesbridge Group to the vocational sector partnerships between Charles Telfair Education and Technical and Vocational Education and Training providers in Western Australia, as well as Curtin University.
The meeting, she stated, was an opportunity to apprise Prime Minister Ramgoolam of the great work resulting from 25 years of partnership between Charles Telfair Education and Curtin University, in addition to discussing future partnerships in Mauritius. She remarked that new courses are also available online and reassured that the Australian High Commission will do its best to enable Mauritian students to continue to benefit from quality education.
As for Prof. Hayne, she underlined that the delegation was able to share their aspirations for the future with the Prime Minister and discuss the ways in which Australia can continue to build international education as part of the Mauritian economy.
