Mauritius celebrates newest centenarian, Mrs Coret

Mrs Marie Lise Coret, born Seinde, celebrated her 100th birthday on the 21 March 2026 during a ceremony organised by the Ministry of Social Integration, Social Security and National Solidarity at the Municipality Hall in Curepipe.

To honour the centenarian, the Ministry presented Mrs Coret with a bouquet, a centenarian medal, a certificate, an Air Fryer and a cheque of Rs 26,203.

She also received a cheque of Rs 10,000 from the National Solidarity Fund and gifts from the Senior Citizens Council. Additionally, she is recipient of a Special Telephone Service.

Mrs Coret was civilly married to Mr Samuel Marcel Coret and had six children. She also has 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

The centenarian attributes her longevity to hard work, maintaining good hygiene, the care of her family and her unconditional faith in God.
