GIS \u2013 11 Jan 2023<\/b>: The promotion of Hindi language through innovative and creative ways among the youth was the gist of the message of the Vice-Prime Minister, Minister of Education Tertiary Education, Science and Technology, Mrs Leela Devi Dookun-Luchoomun, yesterday,\u00a0at Phoenix. She was speaking at an event organised by the World Hindi Secretariat (WHS) on\u00a0the\u00a0occasion of World Hindi Day annually observed on 10 January.\u00a0The theme for this year is\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>Hindi: Traditional Knowledge to Artificial Intelligence.<\/em><\/p>

The Member of Parliament, Mrs\u00a0Subhasnee Luchmun Roy; the Counsellor of the High Commission of India, Mr Navin Gulati;\u00a0the Deputy Secretary General of the WHS, Dr Madhouree Ramdharee and other personalities were present at the event.<\/p>

In her address, Mrs Dookun-Luchoomun dwelt on the importance to encourage the use of Hindi\u00a0through theatrical performances, elocution contest and singing competition. The holding of exchange programmes and youth seminars was also highlighted by the Vice-Prime Minister.<\/p>

Mr Gulati spoke of the concerted efforts that are being made in Mauritius\u00a0to\u00a0promote Hindi language at schools.\u00a0He also conveyed the message of the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, who extended his best wishes to Hindi lovers on the occasion of World Hindi Day.<\/p>

A training workshop aiming to ease the teaching of Hindi grammar at Upper Primary Level is being held, today,\u00a0for Primary Hindi Educators. The training is being\u00a0conducted by a resource person,\u00a0Professor Heinz Werner Wessler, from the Department of Linguistics and Philosophy from the University of Upsala, Sweden, who is currently in Mauritius.<\/p>

World Hindi Day\u00a0also known as\u00a0Vishwa Hindi Diwas<\/i><\/a>,\u00a0marks the day when Hindi was first spoken\u00a0at\u00a0the United Nations’ General Assembly in 1949.\u00a0The\u00a0very first World Hindi Day was celebrated on\u00a010\u00a0January 2006.\u00a0It is\u00a0an occasion to recognise Hindi as a universal language\u00a0and to create awareness about the use of the language.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
