GIS – 05 January 2023:<\/b>\u00a0A delegation comprising more than 500 persons left Mauritius, yesterday, to participate in the 17th<\/sup>\u00a0Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) Convention to be held\u00a0from\u00a008 to 10 January 2023 in Indore, India.<\/p>

On this occasion, a See-off Ceremony was held in the presence of the\u00a0Minister of Land Transport and Light Rail, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, Mr Alan Ganoo;\u00a0the Minister of Arts and Cultural Heritage, Mr Avinash Teeluck;\u00a0the\u00a0High Commissioner of India to Mauritius, Mrs K. Nandini Singla;\u00a0and other personalities, at the SSR International Airport in Plaisance.<\/p>

In his address, Minister Teeluck said that it is a matter of pride that the Mauritian delegation comprises more than 500 participants and is the largest one to be participating in the\u00a02023 PBD. Mauritius has outshined the number of participants expected by the Government of India and this is evidence of the love and profound ties that Mauritius shares with India, he stated. He also expressed gratitude to the socio-cultural organisations and those who have contributed in making the participation of the Mauritian delegation to the event a success.<\/p>

The Minister pointed out that during the conference, participants will have the privilege to attend a live address of the Indian Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi.<\/p>

Minister Teeluck assured the delegates that accompanying officials will ensure that their trip takes place in the best possible conditions and will attend to their queries. He wished the delegates a wonderful journey and\u00a0encouraged them\u00a0to make the most of India\u2019s rich culture, historical sites, and gastronomy.<\/p>

For her part,\u00a0the Indian\u00a0High Commissioner said that PBD Convention,\u00a0is a flagship event of the\u00a0Indian\u00a0Government,\u00a0and is highly\u00a0symbolical for Mauritius as it showcases the reflects the strong bond that the Government of India shares with Mauritius.\u00a0 She recalled that Sir Anerood Jugnauth was the Chief guest for the first PBD organised in 2003 and that that for the last Convention in 2019, the Prime Minister, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth,\u00a0was the\u00a0Chief\u00a0Guest.<\/p>

Mrs Singla also stated that during the previous Conventions,\u00a0Mauritius has had the highest number of participants and that India is is more than eager to welcome the Mauritian delegation for the 2023\u00a0PBD. She expressed hope that the participants will have a memorable time during their trip while highlighting that the Indian Government will do its best possible to cater to their needs and make their stay enjoyable.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
