Chagos Issue: Oral hearings at International Court of Justice
3 September – The Minister Mentor, Minister of Defence, Minister for Rodrigues, opens the oral hearings before the International Court of Justice in The Hague, Netherlands on the request for an Advisory Opinion on the legal consequences of the separation of the Chagos Archipelago from Mauritius in 1965.
 
Disruptive Digital Transformation
3 September – A conference on Disruptive Digital Transformation is held at the Hennessy Park Hotel in Ebène.  The conference, an initiative of NEC Asia Pacific, brings together international and local speakers to discuss the different facets pertaining to digital transformation and the disruption it is causing in the world.  Issues regarding industry 4.0 and how it is bound to change the way businesses and governments operate are discussed
 
Tsunami awareness: Mauritius participates in IOWAVE18
4 September – Mauritius participates in the Indian Ocean Wave 2018 (IOWAVE18) simulation exercise which is based on the scenario of a 9.0 magnitude earthquake in the Makran Trench off the coast of Iran.  IOWAVE18 is carried out at regional level with the participation of 28 countries.  The aim is evaluate and improve effectiveness of the Indian Ocean Tsunami Warning and Mitigation System.
 
Commonwealth Spectrum Management Forum
4 September – A three-day Commonwealth Spectrum Management Forum is held at the Intercontinental Mauritius Resort, Balaclava.  It is organised by the Ministry of Technology, Communication and Innovation in collaboration with the Information and Communication Technologies Authority and the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation.  .
 
Permanent Court of Arbitration
4 September – Meeting between the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Human Rights and Institutional Reforms, and a delegation from the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) in Port-Louis. 
 
Motorway M3-Terre Rouge-Verdun Site visit
5 September – A site visit, at the embankment failure site along the Motorway M3-Terre Rouge-Verdun, is conducted by the Minister of Public Infrastructure and Land Transport
 
Employees Welfare Fund’s new schemes
6 September – The Employees Welfare Fund (EWF) launched three new schemes, namely the Online Loan Application Scheme, the EWF Holiday Scheme and the EWF Scholarship Scheme, at the seat of the EWF in Port Louis.  The aim is to enhance the services offered by the EWF for the welfare of employees both in the public and private sector.
 
NCDs: National prevention campaign
6 September – The national prevention campaign against Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), an initiative of the Ministry of Health and Quality of Life, is launched in Goodlands.  The campaign aims at sensitising and educating the public against the risk-related factors, complications and prevention measures of NCDs. It comprises a series of activities namely screening for NCDs, breast cervical, vision, cholesterol, as well as counselling and health education.
 
President’s Long Service and Good Conduct medal
8 September - Twenty-eight firefighters are awarded the President’s Long Service and Good Conduct medal for their long standing service and good behaviour.  The event is held at the Mauritius Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS) Headquarters in Coromandel.
 
SADC Capacity Building Workshop on cyber security
10 September - The Southern African Development Community (SADC) Capacity Building Workshop opens at the Cyber Tower 1 in Ebène.  It focuses on cyber security and the SADC Regional Cyber security Drill.  Some 50 delegates from 12 countries attend the four-day event.  It is organised jointly by the Ministry of Technology, Communication and Innovation, the Computer Emergency Response Team of Mauritius and SADC.  
 
Zenes Montre To Talan’ Reality Show
10 September - The winners of ‘Zenes Montre To Talan’ Reality Show 2018 are awarded cash prizes during a ceremony held in Port Louis. The Reality Show organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports in the context of the 50th Anniversary of the Independence of Mauritius, yielded great results.  Some 1 300 candidates (individuals or groups) registered for the castings of the first edition.
 
National Road Safety Commission
11 September - The third meeting of the National Road Safety Commission, is chaired by the Minister Mentor, Minister of Defence, Minister for Rodrigues, at the Sir Harilal Vaghjee Hall in Port-Louis.  The aims is to examine and adopt the road safety National Strategy.
 
IOC’s 33rd Council of Ministers Meeting
12 September - Mauritius hosts the 33rd Council of Ministers Meeting of the Indian Ocean Commission (IOC).  The two-day meeting, held at Le Maritim Hotel in Balaclava, has objective to discuss and review progress on the status of implementation of various projects, programmes and activities under the four thematic areas of intervention of the IOC..
 
MRC: Unsolicited Research and Innovation Grant scheme
12 September - The findings of a research project entitled ‘A Mass Media Communication System Using Mobile Voice Technology for Information Dissemination during a Disaster situation in Mauritius’ are presented during a seminar organised by the Mauritius Research Council (MRC) at Ebène Cyber-city. 
 
Mauritius Police Helicopter Squadron’s 44th anniversary
12 September - An official ceremony marking the 44th anniversary of the Mauritius Police Helicopter Squadron (PHS) is held at the hangar of the helicopter squadron at the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport, Plaisance.  Set up in 1974, the PHS consists of four Chetaks, One Fennec and One Dhruv. The Squadron has at present a total of 119 Police Officers of various ranks.  
 
MRC’s Pole of Innovation Grant Scheme
12 September – An awareness session for various stakeholders is organised by the Mauritius Research Council (MRC) at Ebène Cyber-city.  It has as objective to allow participants take cognizance of the Pole of Innovation Grant Scheme in addition to other existing financing schemes at the MRC.
 
NPCC Workshop
13 September – A half-day workshop focuses on the theme, Building and Sustaining a Culture of Operational Excellence.  It is held at the Voilà Hotel, Bagatelle.  The event is organised by the National Productivity and Competitiveness Council (NPCC).  The workshop introduces the building blocks of the Kaizen Change Model (KCM) which cuts across industries, size and sectors. The word “Kaizen”, means, “to change for the better”, and is the most powerful change management tool that can be used for operational excellence implementation.
 
Working session on Ornamental Fish Farming
17 September - A working session on Ornamental Fish Farming in Mauritius is held in Port-Louis between the Minister of Business, Enterprise and Cooperatives, and a technical expert, from the Department of Aquaculture of the National Taiwan Ocean University.  The expert is deputed by the African Asian Rural Development Organisation to provide technical support to local cooperatives to enable them start the ornamental fish business.
 
Seminar on Leadership and Strategic Management
17 September - A five-day seminar on Leadership and Strategic Management, is held at the Open University of Mauritius, Forest Side.  It is organised by the Ministry of Civil Service and Administrative Reforms in collaboration with the Chinese Academy of Governance of the People’s Republic of China and the Civil Service College, Mauritius
 
African Leadership College
17 September - The African Leadership College (ALC) is inaugurated by the Prime Minister in Beau Plan.  The ALC focuses on providing an environment that promotes the spirit of enquiry as well as research and pioneers a fresh approach to new forms of leadership through higher education.
 
SMEs: First batch of 100 graduates receive placement offers
17 September - Placement offers are allocated during a ceremony at the Cyber Tower 1 in Ebene to a first batch of 100 graduates.  These graduates are given placement in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) under the SME Employment Scheme , a measure announced in Budget 2018/2019 and targeting some 1 000 unemployed graduates.
 
International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer
17 September - An exhibition marks the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer at the City Council of Port-Louis.  The exhibition highlights the need to preserve the ozone layer. Several activities are organised to mark the International Day celebrated on 16 September, each year. The theme for this year is Keep Cool and Carry On! The Montreal Protocol.
 
Mauritius Fire and Rescue Service Training
17 September - Twelve officers of the Mauritius Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS) are trained at the Coromandel Fire Station on first aid by two experts of the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service of Reunion Island.  The initiative is a joint collaboration of the Ministry of Local Government and Outer Islands and the Embassy of France in Mauritius. 
 
Aviation Day Conference
18 September - A conference marks Aviation Day at the Sugar Beach Hotel, Flic en Flac, in the presence of the Prime Minister.  The event is hosted by Air Mauritius in collaboration with the International Air Transport Association Aviation Days.  Stakeholders are updated on the state of the Aviation Industry and the current issues it faces.  
 
Roof Slab Grant Scheme
18 September - Some 413 beneficiaries receive cheques, amounting to a total of Rs 34.5 million, during a ceremony held at Sir Harilal Vaghjee Memorial Hall in Port Louis, under the Roof Slab Grant Scheme.  The Roof Slab Grant Scheme is an ongoing project of the Ministry of Housing and Lands in collaboration with the National Housing Development Company (NHDC). 
 
UNECA-ICE Conference on Blue Economy and SMEs
18 September - Mauritius hosts, from 18 to 21 September 2018 at Le Méridien Hotel in Pointe aux Piments, the 24th session of the Inter-Governmental Committee of Experts (ICE) of Southern Africa Meeting at Senior Officials level. The meeting is organised at the initiative of the United Nations Economic Commission Sub-regional Office for Southern Africa. 
 
Conference on Mauritius International Financial Centre
19 September - Opening session of a two-day Conference which focuses on “Mauritius International Financial Centre – Forward Looking”.  It is held at the InterContinental Resort in Balaclava in the presence of the Prime Minister.  The new logo of the Financial Services Commission (FSC) is officially unveiled on that occasion. Two tripartite Memoranda of Understanding between the FSC, the Bank of Mauritius and the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU); and between the FSC, the FIU and the Independent Commission Against Corruption respectively, are signed in a bid to enhance collaboration in fields where the concerned stakeholders are called upon to work together.
 
Site visits at District Courts
19 September – Site visits are conducted by the Attorney General, Minister of Justice, Human Rights and Institutional Reforms at the District Courts in Telfair Souillac and on 20 September 2018 at Pamplemousses. 
 
Newly appointed honorary consuls receive exequatur
20 September - A welcoming ceremony, during which five newly appointed honorary consuls receive their exequatur, is held at Le Labourdonnais Waterfront Hotel in Port-Louis.
 
Conference on Creative Writing
21 September - A two-day conference on Creative Writing entitled “Heaven of Freedom”, is held at Le Labourdonnais Hotel in Port Louis.  It is organised by the President’s Fund for Creative Writing (PFCW) in the context of the 50th Anniversary of the Independence of Mauritius.
 
AFRAC’s General Assembly and Meetings
24 September - The ninth General Assembly and Meetings of the African Accreditation Cooperation (AFRAC) is held at Intercontinental Resort in Balaclava.  AFRAC’s General Assembly and Meetings is being hosted from 24 to 28 September 2018 by the Mauritius Accreditation Service in collaboration with the African AFRAC. 
 
Universiade Games 2018
24 September - The Universiade Games 2018, aiming at fostering a sports culture among students of the tertiary level, kicks off at the University of Mauritius in Réduit.  Thirteen tertiary institutions participate in the Games that spans from 24 to 28 September 2018.  The sports disciplines include: Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Table Tennis, Badminton and cross-country.
 
AFD’s Adapt’Action Programme
25 September - The Adapt’Action programme of the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) is launched at in Port Louis.  It aims at providing technical assistance to countries seeking technical assistance for the institutional, methodological and operational implementation of their commitments to the fight against climate change. 
 
Strategic Partnership Framework 2019-2023
26 September - A Strategic Prioritisation Retreat (SPR) to discuss the development of a Strategic Partnership Framework (SPF) for the period spanning 2019-2023, is held at Le Méridien Hotel, in Pointe aux Piments.  The three-day SPR is organised by the Office of United Nations Resident Coordinator, in collaboration with the Prime Minister’s Office through the Economic Development Board
 
Housing: Letters of intent presented to 36 beneficiaries
26 September - Thirty-six beneficiaries receive their letters of intent during a ceremony held at the Multi-Purpose Complex of Rose-Belle in the context of the relocation of families from Mare Chicose to Marie-Jeannie Rose Belle.   
 
Industry 4.0 (I4.0) Blueprint Conference
26 September - The Industry 4.0 (I4.0) Blueprint Conference focusing on all aspects of the Fourth Industrial Revolution through digital progress, is held at Le Ravenala Attitude Hotel in Balaclava.  The conference, organised by Team Synthesis and the Mauritius Information & Technology Industry Association, brings together local and international high-level experts, practitioners, senior executives and decision-makers of companies and Small and Medium Enterprises.
 
New trends in the jewellery sector
27 September - A one-day workshop on new trends and patterns in the jewellery sector is launched at Cyber Tower 1 in Ebène Cyber-city.  It is organised by the Economic Development Board.  The aim is to enhance the talents of local enterprises in developing trendy jewellery collections for their export markets.  Various themes are discussed such as key products, design concepts and colour raw materials so as to develop a competitive edge for Mauritian enterprises in the field.
 
Safety and Health and Road Safety
27 September – A one-day training programme on Safety and Health and Road Safety, targeting Management Support Officers who have recently joined the Public Service, is launched at the Sir Harilal Vaghjee Memorial Hall in Port Louis.  The training programme is organised at the initiative of the Ministry of Civil Service and Administrative Reforms in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Infrastructure and Land Transport, and the Mauritius Police Force
 
ASTIRIA Project for the conservation of endangered flora
27 September – The ASTIRIA Project for the conservation of endangered flora in the Mauritian archipelago is presented in Port Louis.  The project, spanning over three years (2016-2019) is supported by the Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund, a joint initiative of Agence Française de Développement, Conservation International, the European Union, the Global Environment Facility, the Government of Japan, the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, and the World Bank.
 
Trucks mounted sewer jetting unit
28 September – Two trucks mounted sewer jetting unit, to the tune of Rs 16,185,790 with a capacity of 6000 litres each, Are acquired by the Wastewater Management Authority (WMA) at the Scomat in Pailles.  The aim is to improve service delivery as regards sewer network.  The two trucks have been designed to use high pressure water jets to remove obstruction, grease grit, and other materials from the sewerage network.
 
Ornamental Fish Farming
28 September – Thirty-seven participants including cooperators and officers of the Albion Fisheries Research Centre receive their certificates after completing a one-week training in Ornamental Fish Farming.  The handing over of certificates is held at the LIC Building in Port Louis
 
World Heart Day 2018
29 September – World Heart Day 2018 is marked during a ceremony organised by the Ministry of Health and Quality of Life at the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam National Hospital, Pamplemousses.  This year's World Heart Federation global campaign for World Heart Day focuses on looking after our own hearts, and the hearts of our loved ones, using the slogan ‘My Heart, Your Heart’.  World Heart Day is the world's biggest platform for raising awareness about cardiovascular disease, including heart disease and stroke.
