Handing over of cheques and DVDs on road safety to NCC
 
06 Feb: Handing over of cheque of Rs 225 000 and DVDs on road safety for children by the company LafargeHolcim to National Children’s Council (NCC) at the Ministry of Gender Equality, Child Development and Family Welfare in Port-Louis, in the context of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme. The DVD comprises of cartoon clips which combine entertainment and educational contents to raise awareness about road dangers in particular for school children.

06 Feb: Opening of a workshop, endorsing a safer internet environment where technology is used responsibly at Sir Abdool Raman Osman State College, Phoenix, in the context of Safer Internet Day (SID) 2018. The aim is to sensistise the younger generation on the proper usage of internet. The theme this year is "Create, connect and share respect: A better internet starts with you.

Inter-sectoral meeting on vector-borne diseases
 
08 Feb: Opening of an inter-sectoral meeting on vector-borne diseases for the prevention and control of chikungunya, dengue, malaria and zika which are critical for Mauritius as the island is vulnerable to outbreaks of those diseases. The meeting regrouping different stakeholders aims to reinforce the surveillance system put in place as regards vector control activities.

The aim is to sensitise the population on cancer, the risk factors, and the preventive measures to combat this lethal disease. The theme chosen to mark World Cancer Day for the period 2016 to 2018 is ‘We can. I can’.
