03 December - The Prime Minister, Minister of Home Affairs, External Communications and National Development Unit and Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth meets the Liverpool Football Club (FC) Legend, and Club Ambassador for Liverpool FC, Mr Ian Rush, at the New Treasury Building, in Port-Louis and discusses the promotion of sports culture in the country for a healthier nation.
Reforestation of La Citadelle
03 December - A tree planting ceremony is held at La Citadelle in Port Louis to mark the United Nations Day 2018 , in presence of the Minister of Agro-Industry and Food Security. The activity, a joint initiative of the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office in collaboration with the GEF Small Grants Programme and the Fondation Ressources et Nature, involves the planting of some 50 endemic trees, forms part of the reforestation project of La Citadelle and is aligned with the UN Day theme, ‘Greening the Blue’.
International Volunteer Day 2018
05 December - A carrefour des jeunes volontaires aiming at bringing together several voluntary organisations to showcase their activities in the context of International Volunteer Day 2018 , is held at the Clarisse House in Vacoas, in presence of the Minister of Youth and Sports and the patron of Volunteer Mauritius, Mrs Kobita Jugnauth. The objective is to provide a platform for voluntary organisations to share their values and explain about the services that they provide for the betterment of the population
Government agrees on salary Compensation and increase in old age pension
06 December - The Prime Minister, Minister of Home Affairs, External Communications and National Development Unit, Minister of Finance and Economic Development, agrees to a salary compensation of Rs 400 across the board to be paid to employees of the public and private sectors and the old age pension to be increased from Rs 5,810 to Rs 6,210 as from January 2019. This decision is in line with Government’s commitment to cater for vulnerable people who are at the lower rung of the social ladder and thereby compensating their purchasing power.
National Certificate Award ceremony 2018
06 December - The National Certificate Award ceremony 2018 is held at the Cyber Tower 1 in Ebène to reward some 36 trainees who were dispensed MQA-recognised training by the Home Economics Unit of the Ministry of Gender Equality, Child Development and Family Welfare and excelled in their examinations, and some other 400 trainees, in presence of the Vice-Prime Minister, Minister of Local Government and Outer Islands and Minister of Gender Equality, Child Development and Family Welfare.

06 December - A one-day workshop focusing on the Potential of Satellite-based Data for government and business is held at Le Labourdonnais Waterfront Hotel, Caudan, in Port Louis, in presence of the Minister of Technology, Communication and Innovation. The workshop, a joint initiative of the Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the United States Embassy in Mauritius, focuses on key discussion topics to help Mauritius tap into the opportunities offered by satellite technologies and data.
Inauguration of Residence Rose
06 December - The Residence Rose at Notre-Dame, comprising of 32 housing units and offering various facilities is inaugurated by the Minister of Housing and Lands. The initiative forms part of the social housing policy through which Government wants to foster equality among the low income groups and ensure a better quality of life of the vulnerable.

10 December - A series of video clips for an awareness campaign on human rights in the context of Human Rights Day is launched at the Komiko Comedy Art Club, in Bagatelle, in presence of the Attorney General, Minister of Justice, Human Rights and Institutional Reforms. The objective of this initiative of the Ministry of Justice, Human Rights and Institutional Reforms is to educate and help communities to be aware of their rights and obligations.
Additional financial support to small sugarcane planters
10 December - The Minister of Agro-Industry and Food Security agrees to an additional financial support of Rs 257 per ton of sugarcane to be provided to planters producing up to 60 tonnes of sugar for the 2018 Crop. The small planters benefitting from this additional financial support will therefore receive, in aggregate, a revenue of Rs 1 500 per ton of sugarcane as compared to Rs 1 243 previously.
Indian Naval Ship “Sarvekshak” arrives in Mauritius
11 December - The Indian Naval Ship “Sarvekshak”, a modern survey vessel with the state-of-the-art Hydrographic and Oceanographic survey equipment suite, arrives in the Port Louis Harbour, to carry out Joint hydrographic and oceanographic surveys for Mauritius. The Minister of Housing and Lands is present on the occasion. The ship deployment forms part of a Hydrographic Cooperation between the Government of Mauritius and India.
Capacity-Building workshop on road safety and accident prevention
11 December - A two-day capacity-building workshop on road safety and accident prevention is held at the Hennessy Park Hotel in Ebène,in presence of the Minister of Public Infrastructure and Land Transport, to raise awareness on the United Nations Convention on Road Safety among stakeholders . The workshop is an initiative of the Ministry of Public Infrastructure and Land Transport in collaboration with the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe.
Fire Safety and Emergency Preparedness Week 2018
12 December - The 2018 edition of the Fire Safety and Emergency Preparedness Week aiming at sensitising the public on the causes of fire incidents and educating citizens on precautionary measures to reduce fire risks, is launched at the Municipal Council of Quatre Bornes, in presence of the Chief Fire Officer, Mr L.Pallen. The event is at the initiative of the Mauritius Fire and Rescue Service as part of its fire awareness-raising efforts.

13 December - A workshop focusing on the Smart Grid Roadmap for Mauritius is held Le Méridien Hotel, in Pointe Aux Piments, in presence of the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Energy and Public Utilities . The Roadmap will serve as a blueprint to guide the Central Electricity Board (CEB) in terms of integrating specific technologies into the CEB power system for enhanced reliability, safety and security and resilience.

13 December - Three new schemes of the SME Mauritius Ltd and Phase II of the SME Portal project are launched in Port-Louis, in presence of the Minister of Business, Enterprise and Cooperatives.
