• Computer Security Day 2012
30 November - Computer Security Day 2012, aiming to provide insight into the privacy and security issues surrounding electronically stored sensitive information, is marked during a cyber security conference at Cyber Tower 1 in Ebène. Two Security Guidelines are also launched on that occasion.
• Forum on Corporate Governance
27 November - A forum on Corporate Governance opens at Burrenchobay Hall at the University of Mauritius, Réduit. Professor Mervyn King delivers a talk on International Governance Trends and Corporate Reporting in a changed world.
• Seminar on Plant Genetics
27 November – Seminar focuses on Plant Genetic Resources and Traditional Knowledge. The theme of the event, organised by the Mauritius Research Council in collaboration with the NEPAD/Southern Africa Network for Biosciences, is Guidelines on Use of Traditional Knowledge and Plant Genetic Resources.
• Meeting of the MPC
26 November – The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Bank of Mauritius meets in Port Louis. The Committee keeps the Key Repo Rate unchanged at 4.90 per cent per annum.
• Youth Concert promotes local talent
25 November – A Youth Concert is organised by the Roche Bois Youth Centre of the Ministry of Youth and Sports in collaboration with the Force Vives of the locality. The objective is to encourage active participation of young people in youth-friendly activities and promote talent of youth from the region of Roche Bois.
• Universal Children’s Day
24 November – The Ministry of Gender Equality, Child Development and Family Welfare holds a series of activities including children’s creative and interactive corners, face painting , fun games, quiz and live cultural Programme performed by local children artists at the SSR Botanic Garden. Visits to Heritage Sites and Museums are also organised for some 600 children. The theme chosen for this year is Nou Zanfan Repiblik Moris, Selebre Nou Leritaz.
• 3rd Edition of Directory of ICT Companies in Mauritius
23 November – Launching of the third edition of the Directory of ICT Companies in Mauritius, published by the National Computer Board, at La Grande Cannelle, Domaine Les Pailles. The Directory provides comprehensive information on the Mauritian ICT industry and its operators.
• Seminar on Phytoplasma Diseases on Tomato in Mauritius
22 November – The Mauritius Research Council (MRC) organises a half-day seminar at its headquarters in Ebène on Phytoplasma diseases on tomato in Mauritius. The resource person is Dr A G Bunwaree from the Agricultural Extension Unit who has conducted a study on Phytoplasma diseases on tomato from 2009-2011. The study was funded by the MRC under the Unsolicited Research Grant Scheme.
• Social Welfare Centres’ Sports Day
22 November – A National Sports Day for Social Welfare Centres (SWC) is held at Auguste Volaire Stadium, Flacq. The event is organised by the Social Welfare Division of the Ministry of Gender Equality, Child Development and Family Welfare in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports to encourage physical activities among different age-groups from local communities in the catchment areas of SWCs.
• International Bilingual Conference on Sustainable Entrepreneurship
22-24 november - The University of Mauritius and the Institut de la Francophonie pour L’Entrepreneuriat jointly hold an International Bilingual Conference on Sustainable Entrepreneurship in Mauritius. The main objectives of the Conference are to promote high-quality research and development among stakeholders in the field of sustainable development pertaining to entrepreneurship.
• GFMD Closes its Meeting
22 November – Closing of the sixth summit of the Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD) after intensive debates stretched on two days. The chairmanship of the GFMD is handed over to Sweden.
• Mauritius International Jewellery Exhibition
22 November – Launching of the third edition of the Mauritius International Jewellery Exhibition Eclat Tropical 3, at the Trianon Shopping Centre. The event is organised by Enterprise Mauritius in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Consumer Protection.
• HRDC Surveys Labour Shortage in Tourism Sector
22 November – Launching of a workshop at the initiative of the Human Resource Development Council (HRDC) to validate a survey on the labour shortage in the tourism sector in Mauritius. The survey has been carried out with 100 companies involved in the hotel industry (small and large), tour operators, water leisure activities, restaurants, catering services, bungalow accommodations and other tourism-related activities.
• Opening of 6th GFMD
21 November – Official opening of the sixth Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD) by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade at Swami Vivekananda International Convention Centre in Pailles.
• Film Projection in the Context of Universal Children’s Day
20 November – To mark Universal Children’s Day, a child-friendly cartoon entitled ‘Cars’ is projected, at Cine Klassic, Caudan Waterfront, Port Louis, for some 225 children aged between 6 and 15 years, as well as for their parents coming from different regions in the vicinity of Port-Louis.
• Celebrating African Statistics Day 2012
20 November – A one-day workshop on the theme Making Every Woman and Man Count: Engendering statistics for better development outcomes is held at La Cannelle, Domaine Les Pailles. The event is organised by Statistics Mauritius to mark the African Statistics Day, celebrated on 18 November to increase public awareness on the importance of statistics in all aspects of social and economic life in Africa.
• Workshop on Antimicrobial resistance and nosocomial infections
20 November – A workshop on Antimicrobial resistance and nosocomial infections opens at La Plantation Resort and Spa in Balaclava. The objectives are to raise awareness on the ever-growing threat of antimicrobial resistance, reinforce patients’ safety through improved infection prevention and control practice and work out a proper antibiotics stewardship programme.
• Launching of GFMD: Civil Society Days
19 November – The sixth Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD), Civil Society Days, is launched at the Swami Vivekananda International Convention Centre, in Pailles. Policymakers and stakeholders from countries all over the world participate in various GFMD meetings to discuss the relation between migration and development, share experiences and forge practical cooperation.
• Centre for Professional Legal Studies Launched
15 November – The University of Mauritius launches the Centre for Professional Legal Studies at Paul Octave Wiehe Auditorium, Réduit. The Centre will offer, as from January 2013, Law Practitioner Vocational Courses to attorneys, barristers and notaries.
• World Diabetes Day 2012
14 November – One-day workshop on Diabetes: Protect our Future is held at La Cannelle, Domaine Les Pailles, in the context of the World Diabetes Day 2012. The theme this year is: Diabetes Education and Prevention.
• Remembrance Day 2012
11 November – On the occasion of Remembrance Day 2012 the Prime Minister and other eminent personalities participated in a wreath laying ceremony at the War Memorial in Curepipe.
• Inauguration of Joint ICT Academy/Accenture Program
09 November – Launching of the Accenture Open Education by Accenture Services (Mauritius) Ltd at the CyberTower, Ebène. The training programme is organised in collaboration with the ICT Academy. It is also co-created by the world’s leading technology institution, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA and Accenture Services Ltd.
• Presentation of Budget 2013
09 November – Budget 2013 is presented by the Vice-Prime Minister, Minister of Finance and Economic Development. The focus is on a five-fold strategy namely: Embrace technology and reinforce our Africa Strategy; Support growth and create employment; Strengthen Public Services; Protect the vulnerable; and Ensure sound macroeconomic management.
• Tsunami Evacuation Simulation Exercise
08 November - The Southern Division of the Police Department holds a Tsunami Evacuation Simulation Exercise for the region of Bel Ombre, Coastal Road. This exercise is conducted with a view to accustom all those concerned in case of real contingency about their duties and responsibilities.
• Interim Report of EOC – Press Conference
08 November – The President of the Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC), during a press conference, speaks about the EOC’s Interim Report from May to October 2012.
• Fisheries Partnership Agreement – Press Conference
08 November – The Minister of Fisheries, during a press conference in Port Louis, elaborates on the Fisheries Partnership Agreement (FPA). The new FPA establishes the terms and conditions under which vessels registered in and flying the flag of EU may carry out tuna fishing in Mauritius waters. The Agreement is valid for a period of six years and tacitly renewed for additional periods of three years.
• Price Observatory Notes Slight Price Decrease for October
07 November – The Price Observatory (PO) carried out its seventeenth pricing exercise on 30 October 2012. This is also the fourth survey of the third round with a revised list of outlets and products. A slight decrease of 2.2% has been noted in the average cost of the 60 targeted products from Rs. 6,317 in September 2012 to Rs 6,179 in October 2012.
• Remembrance Day 2012 - Press Conference
07 November – In view of Remembrance Day 2012, held on 11 November, the Mauritius Ex-Services Trust Fund (MESTF) holds a press conference to underscore the need for the community to pay homage to the valour and sacrifices of Mauritian compatriots who enrolled into the army.
• World Food Day 2012 Celebrations
07 November – To mark World Food Day 2012 commemorated on 16 October, the Home Economics Division of the Ministry of Gender Equality, Child Development and Family Welfare, organises a series of activities at the Octave Wiehe Auditorium.
• Promoting Hindi Language and Literature
07 November – A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is signed between the Ministry of Arts and Culture for the Mauritian Hindi Speaking Union and Adharshila, a non-governmental organisation from Nainital, India, which works towards the promotion of the Hindi language and literature. The MoU paves the way for enhanced collaboration between India and Mauritius in the field of Hindi language and literature.
• Empowering Women and Youth through Cooperative Entrepreneurship
07 November – The National Institute of Cooperative Entrepreneurship organises a workshop on Empowering Women and Youth through Cooperative Entrepreneurship. The objectives are to communicate the necessary information relevant to the process of becoming an entrepreneur, and foster the spirit of entrepreneurship in women and youth.
• Visit of Floreal Community Health Centre
06 November – Guided visit of the Floreal Community Health Centre in the presence of the Minister of Social Security, National Solidarity and Reform Institutions; and the Minister of Health and Quality of Life.

06 November – Inauguration of the Jacques Rougeot Community Health Centre, Trèfles, in Rose Hill, by the Minister of Health and Quality of Life.
• Mauritius hosts International Symposium on Creole Language
05-09 November – The Treizième colloque international sur la langue créole (thirteenth international symposium on Creole Language) organised by the Comité International des Etudes créoles (CIEC-International Committee of Creole Studies) in collaboration with the University of Mauritius (UoM) is held at the UoM, Réduit. The theme is Creole Languages, Education and Globalisation. The Conference focuses on the place of Creole languages in the context of the movement of people and ideas, as educational and cultural assets, and in economic globalisation and development.
• Annual Meeting of SADC ICT Ministers
06-08 November – Mauritius hosts the annual meeting of SADC ICT Ministers. Discussions focus, among others, on the implementation of the SADC Road Map on Digital Broadcasting Migration 2013; the SADC Draft Model Laws on Cyber Security, Electronic-Transactions/ Electronic-Commerce, Data Protection and Cyber Crime; the SADC e-Commerce Readiness Strategy; and, the SADC Home and Away Roaming.
• Legal Aid (Amendment) Act 2012 comes into force
05 November – The Legal Aid (Amendment) Act 2012 comes into operation. The Act simplifies the application process for legal aid; extends legal assistance at police enquiry and bail stages; provides for a penalty section for those who provide misleading information in order to prevent an abuse of the legal aid system; and provides for a Means test and a Merits test wherever applicable.
• Job Opportunities in Canada - Press Conference
05 November – The Minister of Labour, Industrial Relations and Employment, announces during a press conference in Port Louis, that Mauritius will set up a pool of candidates to match the labour demand in various sectors in Canada.

• 178th Anniversary of the Arrival of Indentured Labourers in Mauritius
02 November – A series of activities, at the Aapravasi Ghat World Heritage Site in Port Louis, is held to commemorate the 178th Anniversary of the Arrival of Indentured Labourers in Mauritius. These activities include a wreath laying ceremony by eminent personalities, a cultural programme with groups from Kerala, India, and exhibitions on Indentured Labour. A replica of an Indentured Village as in the 1860’s is also mounted for the occasion.
• Visit of PM to Rodrigues
02 November - Three-day visit of the Prime Minister to Rodrigues where he launches the ICT Centre for Excellence at Camp du Roi, the first edition of the Salon de l’Infotech at Mont Plaisir, and inaugurates an MBC studio in the island. The PM also has a working session with the Chief Commissioner, the Chairman of the Regional Assembly and members of the Executive committee.
• Cooperative Fair for Women Empowerment
01 November – A four-day Cooperative Fair for Women Empowerment is organised in the context of the International Year of Cooperatives. The fair sees the participation of 100 women (cooperatives/SMEs/women associations) and features high quality locally-made handicraft, textile items, home accessories, furnishings, food items, jewellery and plants.
• Lecture on recent Progress in Asthma Management
01 November – A lecture, at the Rajiv Gandhi Science Centre, Bell Village, focuses on Recent Progress in Asthma Management. The speaker is Pr Kian Fan Chung, Professor of Respiratory Medicine, Imperial College, London.
