HRDC Launches Second Edition of HR Excellence Awards
29 March - The second edition of the HR Excellence Awards, which aim at raising awareness among employers on the importance of developing and retaining their most valuable asset, that is, their employees, is launched in Ebène. This initiative of the Human Resource Development Council (HRDC) is meant to recognise and celebrate professional excellence and best practice in the sphere of human resource.
SME Road Show at Bon Accueil
28 March - A SME Road Show is organised at Bon Accueil Multi-Purpose Hall. Its objective is to disseminate information to SMEs to allow them take stock of the various incentives and facilities offered by several support institutions.
Campaign against Substance Abuse
28 March - The campaign against substance abuse is launched at the Ste Croix Social Welfare Centre by the National Agency for the Treatment and Rehabilitation of Substance Abusers and the Ministry of Gender Equality, Child Development and Family Welfare.
Science through Colours painting and drawing contest
28 March – An on-spot drawing and painting contest, Science through Colours 2013, targets Form I, II and III students on the theme Mathematics of Planet Earth.  It is organised by the Rajiv Gandhi Science Centre in collaboration with the Indian High Commission and the Indira Gandhi Centre for Indian Culture.
Home Economics Training
28 March - A Half-Day seminar on ‘Empowering families, individuals and communities through Home Economics’ is organised at the Wooton Social Welfare Centre cum Resource Centre. Home Economics courses enable trainees to effectively manage the families’ resources of time, energy and finance, choose wisely, purchase and consume food that promote good health and prevent diseases as well as provide constant care and support to children, the elderly and the family at large in a healthy and safe environment.
Entrepreneurship Forum
27 March - An Entrepreneurship Forum organised by the Mauritius Business Growth Scheme Unit under the aegis of the Ministry of Business, Enterprise and Cooperatives is launched at the Hennessy Park Hotel in Ebène. The Forum debates on key issues pertaining to the entrepreneurship/business community, helps in shaping policy for the rapid development of a “nation d’entrepreneurs”, and facilitates the rapid and sustainable growth of private-sector companies in the Republic of Mauritius.
Night Sky Observation in Olivia
23 March - A night sky observation programme, jointly organised by the Rajiv Gandhi Science Centre (RGSC) and the Sugar Industry Labour Welfare Fund, is held at the Olivia Community Centre.  It aims at initiating inhabitants to astronomy through presentations on the universe and observation of the moon, common stars and planet Jupiter through the RGSC’s telescopes.
Human Rights Education Programme - Presentation of certificates
23 March – One hundred young people from the regions of Pamplemousses and Rivière du Rempart who have completed the Human Rights Education Programme receive their certificates at the Pamplemousses Youth Centre.
Bihar Day Celebrated in Mauritius
 22 March - Bihar Day, which commemorates the existence of Bihar as a separate state, is marked by a special programme at the Aapravasi Ghat, in Port Louis. The event, organised by the Aapravasi Ghat Trust Fund in collaboration with the Ministry of Arts and Culture, is boosted by a cultural show involving both local and Indian artists.
World Meteorological Day 2013
22 March - Exhibition by the Meteorological Services on its premises at Vacoas in the context of World Meteorological Day 2013.
World Water Day 2013
22 March – Opening of a workshop on water at the Rajiv Gandhi Science Centre in Bell Village in the context of the World Water Day 2013. The theme this year is ‘Cooperation in Water’.
Dissemination of Findings of the National Research Foresight Exercise Workshop
21 March – A workshop, an initiative of the Mauritius Research Council, presents and validates the findings of a National Research Foresight Exercise.  The objective is to identify and support targeted prioritised research domains that assist in addressing issues of national strategic relevance and maximise socio-economic welfare of the Mauritian society in the context of scarce resources.
Climate Change Education for Sustainable Development and Adaptation in Africa
20 March - A three-day ‘Regional Expert Meeting on Climate Change Education for Sustainable Development and Adaptation in Africa’ opens at the Intercontinental Resort, Balaclava.
ICT - Building a Connected Society 
19 March - Workshop on ‘The Role of the Public Sector in Building a Connected Society’ opens at Angsana Hotel, in Balaclava.  Several experts in e-Government and Government Modernisation share their international experience.  The objectives are to highlight the role and importance of ICT in the economy, identify major challenges facing the public sector and opportunities that can be tapped using ICT, share best practices in e-Government and take stock of new breakthrough developments.
Consultative Workshop on Energy Efficiency and Energy Conservation in Industries
19 March - A one-day consultative workshop is held at La Cannelle at Domaine Les Pailles for the setting up of a framework for energy efficiency and energy conservation in industries. Sixty-five industrial, mechanical and electrical engineers, Technical Managers, Project Managers and Private Consultants from the industrial sector participate.
Strengthening Values for Family Life Programme
17 March - The ‘Strengthening Values for Family Life Programme’ is launched at the Riambel Community Centre. The programme is implemented by the Ministry of Gender Equality, Child Development and Family Welfare in collaboration with the Indian Ocean Centre for Education in Human Values. Its objectives are, among others, a nation-wide transformation of attitudes and mindset for responsible citizenship through inculcation of values for family life; serve as an essential requisite for married and engaged couples to lead a successful married life; build positive parenting and family bonding; and serve as the foundation for implementation of family life education.
Evaluation Workshop of Activities of Zero Tolerance Clubs
16 March - An evaluation workshop on the activities of the Zero Tolerance Clubs (ZTCs) Against Domestic Violence is held at the National Women Entrepreneurship Council in Phoenix. The ZTCs comprise representatives of various Community-Based Organisations and aim at involving the community to combat domestic violence and creating more awareness among the public on issues pertaining to Gender-Based Violence.
Site Visit to Melrose Prison
15 March - Site visit to Melrose Prison by the Senior Chief Executive of the Prime Minister’s Office, the Commissioner of Police, the Commissioner of Prisons and the National Security Adviser to take stock of the progress of work. The construction of the prison started in September 2010 and works are expected to be completed in August this year.
Caravane de la Science at John Kennedy College
14 March - The Caravane de la Science, a science-based programme designed to travel to schools, community centres and other public places with a view to bringing science and technology-based activities within the reach of all segments of the population, visits the John Kennedy College.
International Women’s Day – PM Chief Guest at Celebrations
14 March - The Prime Minister delivers his official message in the context of International Women’s Day celebrations held at the Auditorium of Mahatma Gandhi Institute, Moka. The theme is ‘The Gender Agenda: Gaining Momentum’. The objective is to highlight the new impetus to the strategy of the Ministry of Gender Equality, Child Development and Family Welfare to achieve gender equality in all areas based on the prior efforts of the Ministry.
Workshop on Draft Mauritius National AGOA Strategy
14 March - A half-day workshop on Mauritius National AGOA (African Growth and Opportunity Act) Strategy aiming to enable stakeholders brainstorm on the draft strategy document, opens at Le Labourdonnais Hotel, Caudan Waterfront, Port Louis.  It brings together around fifty participants from the public and private sectors as well as Mauritian exporters operating on the US market.
ICT/BPO - Stakeholder Consultation/Validation Workshop for Nomenclature of Job Roles
14 March - A stakeholder consultation/validation workshop for nomenclature of job roles for the ICT/BPO sector, organised by the Human Development Resource Council (HRDC), opens in Ebène. The workshop provides an opportunity for stakeholders’ input into the nomenclature through general consensus and consultations as well as in considering practicalities for alignment and harmonisation of job roles.
University of Mauritius Confers Honorary Degree of Civil Law to Indian President
13 March - The President of India, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee, who is on a three-day State Visit to Mauritius in the context of the National Day celebrations, is conferred Honorary Degree of Civil Law by the University of Mauritius at Octave Wiehe Auditorium, Réduit.
Working Session between Indian President and Mauritian PM
12 March - Working session at Clarisse House between the Indian President, Mr Pranab Mukherjee, and the Prime Minister, Dr Ramgoolam, and signature of three Memoranda of Understanding relating to cooperation in the fields of health and medicine; persons with disabilities and senior citizens; and tourism.
Celebration of National Day at Anjalay Stadium
12 March - An  ocial ceremony at Anjalay Stadium, Belle Vue,  followed by a cultural show, marks the 45Th Independence anniversary and 21ST anniversary of the Republic of Mauritius. The Chief Guest is the President of India, Mr Pranab Mukherjee.
The theme chosen for this year’s celebrations is Enn Pei, Enn Nasion, Enn Destin ’- One country, One nation, One Destiny.
Finals of Youth Song and Dance Fiesta
11 March - The finals of the Song and Dance Fiesta, organised in the context of National Day celebrations and National Youth Day, are held on the premises of the Municipality of Vacoas/Phoenix.  The event has as theme Enn Pei, Enn Nasion, Enn Destin.
Strategic Framework 2013-2015: Young Women advocating for Gender Equality
8 March - Launching of a Strategic Framework advocating for gender equality during International Women’s Day celebrations held at Octave Wiehé Auditorium, Réduit. The document is the outcome of a workshop held in February 2013 where representatives of newly created women’s associations, secondary schools, NGOs and youth clubs discussed issues pertaining to promoting gender equality and charting the way forward towards the social, economic and political empowerment of women.
Inauguration of Pailles Health Community Centre
7 March - The Pailles Community Centre is inaugurated. To the tune of Rs 2.25 million for renovation works and costs for equipment and furniture, the Health Community Centre will cater for the about 7 500 inhabitants of Cité Mauvillac, Pailles Road, Monte Bello, Cité Grand River North West, Cité Jonction and part of Plaine Lauzun.
Consultative Workshop on Collaborative Research Programme on Diabetes
7 March: A Consultative Workshop is organised by the Mauritius Research Council in Ebène to create a common platform on the diabetes epidemic from a research perspective among relevant stakeholders. The workshop also aims at collecting inputs from all participants to create ownership in a common consolidated diabetes research programme for Mauritius, reviewing previous and current research work on diabetes and exploring new avenues.
PM Inaugurates Confluences 2013 - International Book Fair
7 March - The Prime Minister inaugurates Confluences 2013 - International Book Fair, a project of the department Culture & Avenir of the Prime Minister’s Office, at the Swami Vivekananda International Convention Centre, Pailles.
New Pakistan High Commissioner Calls on PM
6 March - The  new High Commissioner of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Mauritius, Major General (Retired) Ulfat Hussain Shah, pays a courtesy call on the Prime Minister, Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam, at Treasury Building in Port Louis.  Earlier during the day, Major General Shah presented his letter of Credence to the President of the Republic of Mauritius, Mr Rajkeswur Purryag, at State House, Le Réduit.
National Platform to End Gender-Based Violence
6 March - The Ministry of Gender Equality, Child Development and Family Welfare chairs a meeting at the Gold Crest Hotel in Quatre Bornes with representatives of Ministries, Departments and other organisations forming part of the National Platform to End Gender-based Violence to take stock on progress achieved and discuss on future programmes in the context of the implementation of the Costed National Action Plan to End Gender-Based violence. 
AFSTA Congress 2013
4 March - Mauritius hosts at Le Meridien Hotel, Pointe aux Piments, the 13th Annual Congress of the African Seed Trade Association (AFSTA) organised jointly by the AFSTSA and The Seed Producers and Traders Association of Mauritius. The event seeks to address the major challenges facing production and trade in certified quality seed in Africa and provides opportunities to the seed industry stakeholders to exchange ideas and experiences and build business relationships to spur the growth of the seed industry on the African continent.
Business and Cooperatives - Minister Visits Rodrigues 
5 March - The Minister of Business, Enterprise and Cooperatives is on a three-day visit to Rodrigues in the context of the signature of a Memorandum of Understanding aiming at strengthening the cooperation between Mauritius and Rodrigues in the field of business, entrepreneurship and cooperative development.  During his visit, a Road Show is also organised by SMEDA as well as workshops on capacity building.
