•Presentation on Paediatric Orthopaedics Surgery
27 February - Presentation on ‘Paediatric Orthopaedics Surgery’ by Dr Atul Bhaskar (India) and a Mauritian Team at the Cardiac Centre, SSRN Hospital in Pamplemousses. Dr Bhaskar, Consultant Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon, is in Mauritius from 25 to 28 February 2013 to operate on difficult paediatric cases especially limb deformities, cerebral palsy patients and spine surgeries.
•Law Practitioners Vocational Course: Induction session
25 February - An induction session is held at the University of Mauritius (UOM) for the first batch of 100 students enrolled on the Law Practitioners Vocational Course. The course is run by the Centre for Professional Legal Studies under the aegis of the Faculty of law and management of the UOM.
•Mauritius and Maldives Sign Bilateral Air Services Agreement
25 February - A bilateral air services agreement is signed by the Vice-Prime Minister, Minister of Finance and Economic Development, and the Minister of Defense and National Security of the Maldives for the operation of direct air links to improve connectivity between the two countries.
•E-Filing Services for Individual Income Tax Return 2013
25 February - Launching of the E-filing services 2013 provided by Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA) to all taxpayers to file tax returns electronically.
•Leadership Development Programme for Youth in Rodrigues
23 February - The National Youth Council, in collaboration with The Leadership Network, organises a two-day Leadership Development Programme at Malabar Training Centre, Rodrigues. The object is to empower the Rodrigues Regional Youth Council’s executive members and young people from youth organisations.
•Re-designed Government Portal Operational
22 February - The re-designed Government Portal www.gov.mu as well as websites of Ministries and Departments goes live on the internet. The main portal includes information related to the Government of Mauritius and is considered as the entry point to the websites of Ministries. The new portal has been designed with value-added features, such as registration of citizens and personalised content through the ‘my Gov’ concept, and facilities to view PDF files in a more user-friendly way.
•International Book Fair ‘Confluences’ - Press Conference
21 February - The advisor on the dossier Culture, Prime Minister’s Office, Mr Alain Gordon-Gentil, announces during a press conference in Port Louis, that the Prime Minister will inaugurate on 7 March 2013 the first edition of the International Book Fair ‘Confluences’ 2013, at the Swami Vivekananda International Convention Centre, Pailles. ‘Confluences’ 2013 is one of the major events organised in the context of National Day celebrations 2013.
•MoU to strengthen cooperation between the Senior Citizens Councils of Delhi and Mauritius
21 February - A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Senior Citizens Council of Mauritius and that of Delhi is signed. The MoU which is part of an exchange programme between the Senior Citizens Councils of both countries provides for mutual cooperation in specific areas as regards the welfare of the elderly.
•Assistance extended to planters following torrential rains
20 February - Seeds and planting materials as well as compost and vouchers are handed over to several planters of the north by the Minister of Agro Industry and Food Security. This assistance is provided to help planters whose crops have been washed away or lost by water-logging following recent torrential rains.
•Laying of foundation stone of Goodlands Mediclinic
20 February - The foundation stone of the Goodlands Mediclinic at Morcellement Saint Antoine, Goodlands is laid by the Minister of Health and Quality of Life.
•Driving Course for Unemployed Women
20 February - The National Institute for Cooperative Entrepreneurship organises a training in the theoretical aspects of driving for 50 potential women entrepreneurs at the Pont Lardier Community Centre. The aim is to support and empower unemployed women to become micro entrepreneurs.
•MoU between the University of Mauritius and the Canberra Institute of Technology
20 February - A Memorandum of Understanding for collaboration in Teaching and Research is signed by University of Mauritius and the Canberra Institute of Technology. The MoU establishes a framework for cooperation on students and academic staff exchanges, joint research projects, identification of common mutually tangible objectives as well as capacity building for public officials from Mauritius and the African region.
•Workshop for the Establishment of a National Livestock Policy Hub
19 February - A National Multidisciplinary Stakeholder workshop for the establishment of a National Livestock Policy Hub opens at Domaine Les Pailles. The workshop is in line with the Reinforcing Veterinary Governance in Africa Program which is being implemented in partnership with the Regional Economic Communities, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation and the World Animal Health Organisation.
•Main Projects 2013 – Press Conference
19 February – The Minister and Communication Technology, during a press conference in Port Louis, elaborates on main projects in the pipeline for of Information 2013 in the ICT Sector. These include: mobile banking; migration from seven to eight digits of Non-Geographic E.164 telephone numbers; and ICT Expo 2013 at regional level.

18 February - Opening of the second edition of the Mauritius International Knowledge Investment Forum (MIKIF) organised by the Board of Investment to showcase investment opportunities and latest trends in the education sector to the global education community.
•Training Course in Serigraphy
18 February - A training course in Serigraphy is launched at the National Women Development Centre, Phoenix. It targets some 25 unemployed women. The course, organised by the National Women Entrepreneur Council and funded under the Special Collaborative Programme for support to women and children in distress, aims at empowering vulnerable women economically.
•Launching of New CEB Integrated Electricity Plan 2013-2022
18 February - The new Integrated Electricity Plan for the period 2013-2022, which gives an overview of the Central Electricity Board’s (CEB) strategies to address the energy challenges of Mauritius, is launched at the new headquarters of the CEB in Ebène.
•SADC Gender and Development Meeting in Mozambique
14 February - The Minister of Gender Equality, Child Development and Family Welfare, participates in the 2013 Meeting of the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) Ministers responsible for Gender and Women’s Affairs in Maputo, Mozambique. The SADC meeting is an annual event which aims at enabling the presentation and sharing of best practices, lessons learnt and progress achieved as regards gender equality.
•University of Mauritius Open Days
14 February - Open Day at the University of Mauritius for prospective students and school leavers. Presentations of programme of studies and meetings/interactions with academic staff are held on that occasion.
•Award of Certificates in Hospital Management
14 February - Award of certificates to trainees of a Postgraduate Diploma in Hospital Management at the School of Nursing in Pamplemousses. Organised by the Ministry of Health and Quality of Life in collaboration with Hôpitaux Universitaires de Genève, the training aims to build capacity of health personnel in management.
•Signature between IPPs and CEB to make public Power Purchase Agreements
14 February - An agreement between the Independent Power Producers (IPPs) and the Central Electricity Board (CEB) to make public the Power Purchase Agreement of IPPs is signed in the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy and Public Utilities in Port Louis.
•MDGs - Workshop focuses on Post 2015 UN Development Agenda
12 February - Four-day workshop on ‘Post 2015 UN Development Agenda - The Future We Want’, aiming to provide a platform to exchange views and to come up with new ideas as how best to address the said Agenda, opens at La Cannelle, Domaine Les Pailles. It brings together participants from the public and private sectors as well as from the civil society to discuss the development agenda beyond 2015 with the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) due to expire at the end of 2015.
•Workshop on the Occupational Safety and Health Convention, 1981 (c155)
12 February - Opening of a three-day national tripartite workshop to sensitise social partners on the principles and provisions of the Occupational Safety and Health Convention which will help towards the ratification of the (C155) Convention.
•Digital Television - Study on State of DTT Migration in Mauritius Launched
7 February - A study on the state of Digital Television Migration (DTT) in Mauritius, aiming to determine the number of households that own a digital terrestrial television receiver commonly referred as ‘TNT decoder’ and those that are still using the analogue broadcast system, is launched in Port Louis.
•Mauritius-Turkey - Trade and Economic Agreements Signed
7 February – Mauritius and Turkey sign in Istanbul a Framework Agreement on Trade and Economic Cooperation and an Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement. These agreements represent an additional step in fostering relations between both countries following the signing of a Free Trade Agreement in September 2011. The Mauritian delegation is led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade.
•Mauritius-Turkey Bilateral Meet
7 February – Bilateral meeting in Istanbul, Turkey, between the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade and the Turkish Minister of Economy. During the meeting the Mauritian Minister reiterates his invitation for the Turkish Minister to lead a business delegation to Mauritius to coincide with the coming into operation of the Free Trade Agreement during the course of this year.
•Workshop on Communications Strategy on Health Promotion
7 February – A one-day workshop on ‘Communications Strategy on Health Promotion’ is held at La Cannelle, Domaine Les Pailles. The aim is to chalk out a communication strategy to improve the health status of the population of the country.

7 February - The Grand Port District Council welcomes the First National Science Week for the year 2013. The two-day event aims at sensitising young people and the public at large on the importance of science.

7 February - A first batch of 100 000 cordonnier fingerlings is released by the Ministry of Fisheries at the Mahebourg Fish Landing Station.
•Circular Migration - 30 Mauritians to take Employment in Canada
7 February - Eligibility certificates and other relevant documents are handed over to a first batch of 30 Mauritians to take employment in Canada under the circular migration programme initiated by the International Organisation for Migration in Mauritius and the Federal Government of Canada.
•Launching of School Health Programme 2013
5 February - The School Health Programme 2013 for secondary schools is launched at Keats College in Chemin Grenier to mark World Cancer Day observed on 4 February.
•Inauguration of Chemotherapy Unit
5 February - A Chemotherapy Unit is inaugurated at Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital in Rose Belle. This new facility, which will cater for patients in the south, is part of Government’s policy to decentralise health services.
•Mauritius Hosts Regional Workshop on Participatory Slum Upgrading Programme
4 February - Mauritius hosts a regional training workshop on the UN-Habitat Participatory Slum Upgrading Programme (PSUP) – Phase 2 from 4 to 8 February at XIA-Talking Drums, in Bagatelle. The PSUP aims at improving the living conditions of the most vulnerable living in towns and cities and reducing by half the number of people living in slum areas by the year 2020.
•New Operation Theatre and Wards Block
4 February - Laying of foundation stone of the Operation Theatre and Wards Block at the Victoria Hospital in Candos. To the tune of Rs 525 million, the project is being financed by the Chinese Authorities under a Government to Government agreement. The construction is expected to last for 23 months.
